We arrived at Drifters RV Park in Rockport on October 30th. We barely missed the early season snowfall in Flagstaff and barely missed the heavy rain and storms in San Antonio. We are settled in for the month of November planning to enjoy the warm weather, our quiet campsite and hopefully some fishing.
The Big Tree at Goose Island State Park
This coastal live oak tree is estimated to be well over 1000 years old. It was one of the only things left standing after a Union Navy bombardment of the port town Lamar during the Civil War. The trunk circumference is around 35 feet.
We wish we could have walked around and really enjoyed this grand old tree, the mosquitoes there were unbearable.
Little Boy wanted me to remind all of our readers that this is his most favorite campground since The Last Resort in Pagosa Springs.
More later.
Hope your park has cable tv, those trees look really big
