The Oregon Coast: Part Two

We continue this photographic journey of our travels around the Newport area.

An afternoon trip southward to Hecta Head and Cook's Chasm.

That's Cook's Chasm and the Spouting Horn.
When the waves rush in, the water pressure builds up under the rock ledge and spray shoots thru a hole in the rock.  The rougher the waves, the taller the water spray.

Thor's Well is a Sinkhole, don't get close.

We enjoyed a early dinner at Luna Sea Fish House and watched a sunset in the charming village of Yachats.

And one more day trip back up to Pacific City.
That's Cape Kiwanda shrouded in a marine fog.

.....then the fog lifted while we were there.

Haystack Rock, also known as Teacup Rock is 327 feet tall.

..and we drove out on the beach too.

An afternoon trip to visit the Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Natural Area.

More harbor seals, not sea lions,
lounging on the rocks below the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.

And finally, one more sunset from our campsite at Seal Rocks.

We have now moved south to Florence, Oregon.
More Later.
